964 climate control issue

There is a knob for the fan speed (1 through 10)
There is a knob for the temperature.

When I put the temperature to straight heat (red dot, far right), and put the fan setting to full blast, it doesn't work. The fan and the temperature set to heat won't work together.

The fan will only blow if the temperature is set to around half-way on the temperature dial or less. Once you turn it further to the heat side, the interior fans shut off.

When I first turn on the car, it will blow full blast on this setting for like 10 seconds, then shut off.

what is the problem? climate sensor or what? Why doesn't the fan just blow when I set it to blow damnit?

That's normal, as the CCU will not allow the front blower to work properly when
the back blower doesn't function properly. Put the Porsche Hammer on the car
and read the CCU fault codes.

Where would one obtain the Bosch Hammer? It seems to be NLA but where does that leave DIYs?

Yeah...well, Loren hit the nail on the head with this one. I went back there and the engine heater blower was simply disconnected. I hooked it back up and immediately realized why someone had pulled the plug on it...VRRRRRRRR, thump thump thump ..what an ugly sound.
I recognized it as the situation that happens with these blowers when they wear. The fan cage begins to hit the plastic housing making an awful noise.
I dismantled it and tried to get it to work with some grease and realignment, but to no avail. After getting it back together and putting it back in, it wobbled enough to break a few of the blades off.

So, I'm going to try to get one from a local dismantler (www.laporsche.com) for a reasonable price. If not, i'll have to get a new one for 380 bucks.

Thanks Loren for the tip.
