Source for Turbo flare Black Stoneguard Material

Posted this in response to a "want" ad....might be of some interest here, too. Slightly "thicker" than stock but nice quality and color.

I have searched for this for over a year and have not found a suitable exact replacement from 3M..even went as far to hit on 3M sales people servicing industry.

I did find a suitable replacement, though. Look up Ray Allen's "wingwalk" material...a black, grainy thick material used as ( ta dah) material for walking on aircraft wings.

Scroll down to bottom here:

Also available through Aircraft Spruce supply co.

I cut my own templates...slightly larger than Turbo stock ( to cover a bad stone chip !) and used them on my narrow body Carrera. Perfect !

Wil

Porsche Crest Stone guards

Hello Will,

If you have an electronic file for the template and wouldn't mind sharing I would greatly appreciate it.

Cheers,
Jorian

Sorry...I don't.
If there is some other way to accommodate this...let me know, and I'll try to work something out.

Wil,

Nice work on sourcing the material. Couldn't you trace the outline and scan?

Yes..pro'lly... let's see what remains of my project. Understand my particular unit is purposely larger than stock to cover a "high" stone chip.

If you can trace and scan I can scale the image down to any size. I have a a vinyl cutter and just need the file. Don't go throught too much trouble - I can probably find it elsewhere. Just haven't looked yet.

Let me search my stuff and report back. If you don't hear back on this subject within a week ( I'm in the middle of things at the moment)..then I didn't find it, but I have a good hunch where all this stuff is at home ( famous last words !).
