BC is not NJ - you need AC in a Daily Driver. Chris

Pretty funny - I bought one on eBay to add to my car. The wt. is low - should be data in my spreadsheet on Thom's light wt. page.

Took mine out today. That one screw that is hidden is a pain to get to but I pried the carpet up and took the screw out. Wiggling the console out the plastic tab that I fought so hard to get the screw off got caught under the carpet and broke. Oh well. I too followed the wires and clipped them to where you can't see them. In the smugglers box their was a relay that I took off and clipped those wires except for two wires, a black one and a red/white one. Those two were hot and I didn't want to mess with hot wires so I just taped them up and tie wraped them so their out of the way. Come to think of it the red/white is always hot and the black is hot when the ignition switch is turned on, maybe I could use these for let say a CD changer or maybe an amp or something.

I just deleted the center console in my 1987 Carrera and it appears that I have quite a bit of wire to relocate switches to the dash. Since I am deleting the radio, I will probably locate the hazard, the defrost, and the central locking to the radio location. Plenty of wire to go there. The A/C will most likely be deleted as well. A bit of of a PITA getting everything separated in the console without destroying the parts or cutting wire. I did cut the 4 wires to the central locking switch in order to get it out of the console, but then found a disconnect under the carpet near the accelerator pedal afterwards. Small repair could have been avioided. Before: ![]() During: ![]() After photo to follow.

Console delete
Here is a picture of my SC with the console removed. I made a bracket and mounted the a/c switches in the nook where the ashtray used to live. Hope this helps.

I removed mine a few weekends ago. Makes the drivers area feel a lot more spacious. Highly recommended. RS door cards next.
