Weird starting
If the car sits for about fifteen minutes or longer, it takes about thirty seconds of cranking to start. If it sits over night or about two hours or longer, it starts instantly. How come? TIA.

My car does the exact same thing. I haven't gotten around to testing the fuel pressure after shutoff yet, but I suspect that it is either a failed accumulator or vapor lock.

Does your idle ever go way up. The odd thing is that my car doesn't always do the long crank thing, it goes through cycles where it does and then stops for a period of time.

Occassionally the idle will go up to 1700, then slowly come back down. Haven't figured this one out yet either.

It's the same components, or nearly so (different years), is my guess. One of the air related valves or hoses. Anyone else have this happen?

Or not. I just put on a new cap and rotor and noticed some of the plug wires weren't in the old cap very tightly. I pushed the wires tightly into the new cap and now it starts immediately. We'll see if this continues.

fuel accumulator is a good start. it maintains the fuel pressure even when the engine is off

Would the accumulator be the culprit? If the car sits for several hours or overnight it ALWAYS fires instantly. It's during the fifteen minutes to one hour after shutoff that there's a problem with long cranking, (almost always 30 seconds).
