What do you think.....

Decided to redo the wheels this weekend on the new Carrera. The centers were painted body color and not only was it off a shade it was chipping in several spots as well. I had intended on going to traditional black centers but then when I stripped the paint I kind of liked the polished lip anodized center look. Also turns out the original color under the red was platinum no sign of black. Unfortunately the anodizing isn't in too good shape so if I'll need to paint them silver. The platinum look would match my interior but If I go that route later I'll need to have them done professionally. Platinum might be good if they sold Carrera stipes that color but then again that might also be a bit over the top. Thoughts or opinions?

Before
Where they are tonight

I kinda like them the way they are (silver). Black centers would look good too though. You did the right thing by take the red off!

Fuchs

The red was a bit cutesy. Go black. My car is also a non-standard red and I love the look of the black Fuchs. Too cool..... Carmine Red - just washed !

If you go the paint route, how about a platinum paint?

I like em as they are. The red was gaudy, but the matte silver looks great to my eye. Hey do what you like, but I'm a sucker for natural wheels.

Well I went the silver route against everything I'd initially planned but they just look much better to my eye than I ever thought they would. Besides I can always change them to black now that the hard work of polishing the rims and stripping the old red has been done. Maybe even a silver Carrera strip would complete the look.
Well on to the other side!

Yeah she is still riding high from having the side jacked up . The 50 series rubber on 15 inch wheels doesn't help either.

Nice. What paint did you use? Did you clearcoat over?

I used a rustoleum metallic silver the kind with little flecks of metal in the paint. It went on real well, thin in color so the anodizing underneath kind of blends with the color and allows you to have the original finish show throught a bit. I didn't clear coat because I didn't want a real shine. If it doesn't last I'll re-do it but it seems like it should be pretty durable.

Ya' know what? That looks pretty good. I like the contrast with the polished perimeter. Fully polished wheels are "too much". This is a neat combo.
