Heck, I’m only 5 not 71!

I purchased a Harbor Freight engine stand and modified it by drilling new mounting holes on the adjustable bars. Granted, this is not the same quality of the Pelican parts Engine stand.
It did the job and was not very expensive. I purchased the stand in 1999 before I knew this site existed or there was a special stand for Porsche engines. Here are two pics of the stand.

When I was rebuilding a couple of 356 motors I cutt the bellhousing off of a VW trans and cleanranced it, added a starter and small fuel tank and pump along with a battery tray. Then a drilled and mounted directly to a 4-caster stand.
Talk about a great way to work! Build it then run it! Same could probably be done with that old tranny you've got stashed out back...

I've got a bellhousing from a '72 bus that is bound for the scrapyard, but maybe I'll hold onto it. I love the idea of being able to run an engine on a stand.
