Getting 911 started

After my 83' 911 has been sitting for 6 weeks it is not starting. Just continues to turn over with no ignition. I have checked for spark and it is there, just seems to be no fuel. Is there a way like on a carb to drop some fuel in the throat, or is that a bad idea. Any advice is welcome.

Presuming the fuel is running, take off the air filter, and gently press the plate up, until you hear your injector "singing".

Then you know you have fuel at the injectors.


So if you have spark, you should be good.

I don't recall if the pump should be on all the time with just ignition on, or not though. But if the pump isn't running, then I would start there. But I forget...

That was the key. I used a jumper to run the fuel pump and pressed the plate up until the sound changed. Took a couple of seconds, but she fired up and runs fine.
Is this a sign of a bad check valve?

I don't think you have much to worry about after six weeks....

If it does this in overnight or maybe two days - then maybe a check valve.

Not sure, maybe someone else who is more familiar with the CIS can chime in.

I had a '73 with CIS, and my dad has an 80.

I have an '85 for the last five years, and now I get to learn all about DMEs as I have my first problem this week (in five years).
