How many miles/kilometers on a rebuilt engine?
hi there,
Just wondering, I have the impression from this board that the general feeling is that orginal engines last longer than rebuilts. This brings me to the following question (just outof curiosity), how many miles/kilometers have you driven with your complete rebuilt engine? To kick of 930/09 rebuilt, with 930/03 top, mahle set, now 10,000 kilometers since rebuilt, mobil 1. Regards, Gerko 1978sc PS old engine destroyed after engine fire at approx. 54,000 miles. |

7.000 miles on an almost complete rebuilt of a 964 3.6 engine (complete head job, good used P/C's, ARP rod bolts, and wild cams) with no issues

10K miles with ~10 track days on a fresh 3.0 topend. JE pistons 9.7:1 CR, Elgin SC330 cams. Still going strong.

The old 2.7 from my car had 65k miles on it when I sold it (and probably 3k of that was hard track miles) and it was in great shape. 156-164 psi compression on all cylinders, no oil leaks, etc.
