Question Refinish Ruf Speedline - HELP!

I really need help as I am definitely not an expert on refinishing wheels.

My 8X17 and 9X17 Ruf Speedline wheels need to be refinished. I want the rims polished (no clear coating on the rims) and the centers painted.

This is what I plan to do (after reading a lot of topics in this forum):

1: I will have the wheels blasted
2: Polish the lips
3: I will have the wheels centers powdercoated.

Any other suggestions? Is this the right order to do it in? Is there a problem (with corrosion) if there is 1½ months between step 2 and 3?

Thanks!

Far as I know, the Speedlines are cast not forged. Can these be polished successfully? I know there are polished alloy wheels out there on newer cars. Perhaps they are chromed. If not keen on polishing, cleaning and painting/clearcoating your color of choice looks good on RUF wheels.

Can I use car spray paint for the wheel centers instead of powder coating?

Absolutely... and they will hold up plenty well if you do it right. Besides, how many new wheels come powdercoated? Not even Fuchs came that way.

I sent one of the BBS RC's from my wife's VW Corrado to these guys in Hannover for repair and respray and they did a nice job. I'm sure they can polish as well if it's possible.

Pro-Felge

It wasn't cheap, but then again, nothing over here is cheap.

Sure you car. A nice choice is BMW silver that comes on most of there rims. I have these on my X5 and it would look nice on Speedlines.

Most Porsche wheels are a baked on paint not powder. As for polishing and not clear coating that is your choice. If you use a good polish such as Mr Buffer polish which is the best polish made in my opinion you will be fine with minimal work. Keep in mind that if you try and polish anything that is cast you will have to deal with pits etc. that is why most cast centers are painted to hide this. I have a set of Gemballa 3.6 turbo wheels I just tore down and totally polished the outside wheel and the cast centers that is why I have some input

If you live where it gets humid you may want to consider a clear powder coat over the polished lips. It will go a long way towards preventing corrosion and help with maintenance.

Thanks for your answers.

Next week I will have the wheels blasted and the lips polished and in February I will have them painted (as well as my car).

I will send some pictures of the result :-)
