If the Clutch is Pressed in Too Far What Happens?

I have a 901 tranny on a '71 911 and I wanted to get some ideas why I hear grinding when the clutch pedal is pressed in w/o the clutch pedal stop inserted. I hear grinding, is this normal? When I install the floor board with the stop will the grinding stop?

Also, what is the best method to reattach the two shift linkages together at the coupler in the tunnel at the rear access panel? I am having trouble aligning the shifter to the gear the tranny is in.

Thank you

Zac

you are making the release bearing lever rub against the outer edge of the pressure plate. Get a clutch pedal stop (which is part of your pedal board) in there asap!
