Tow hooks and front susp. mounts
The PO of my 911 did a real job on my front tow hooks while he was the owner of the car. I thought it was about time to replace these.
![]() They were too knackered to try and repair, so I purchased some of the tow hooks from a Pelican competitor (sorry). I also wanted a bright red pair so the flat bed driver doesn't try to hook the cable to the forward a/c condensor brush guard bar again! ![]() So my question is, can I still use my forward a-arm mount to place a jackstand under now that the tow hook covers are gone? Does this make any sense? Thank for your time

I would get some early torsion bar covers. The tow hooks aren't integrated into the covers.

I've been looking at those too, but never assumed the covers would come off. I assumed the hooks were placed on top, and was worried about adequate bolt depth. In fact I did not realize they were covers.
When you remove/move all this stuff around, do you have to do a realingment? I know nothing about this, so imagined the worse............that is the front of the car droping on me. Was it easy to do? Leftie loosie, rightie tightie, and all went well?

Well, the photos on thier website have these hooks underneath the A-arm mount and against the tub. Since the stock covers with hooks went over the mount, I placed the hooks over the mount with no problem. This retains the stock location of the A-arm mount, so no suspension geometry change.
The bolt length was fine. They torque to 35 f/lbs just fine. Obviously I will recheck that torque after 1k miles or so. I placed the car on jack stands using the torsion tube and the factory lift point on the chassis just behind the front wheel. I placed a thin piece of wood between the stand and this mount just in case of damaging the lift point. My front condensor guard bar is slightly bowed on the large side. This made it a little harder to get the forward bolt in at first. A little leverage helped alot. Remember to always start your bolts and leave them loose until you get all of them safely installed and threaded correctly, then tighten, then torque. The problem is I now lost my favorite location to place the front end on jack stands. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that. This install was no problem. From Wayne's book "101 Projects" this would be a one mechanic rating (easiest) and about an hour to do. I will say that the hooks are quite nice. Powdercoat could be a little thicker, but overall pretty nice.
