Front valences/Ruf "like" kits

Kenneth's car got me thinking, which is dangerous. I could go with new bumpers or do the easy and cheap thing and get a Ruf "like" front valence. I found this after searching the discussions.
Anyone have experience with it. Pretty much a bolt on to a stock SC?

http://www.betterbodiesmotorsport.com/homefr.html

Of course this looks cool too, but seems much more involved.

http://www.betterbodiesmotorsport.com/homefr.html

Thanks

Sorry,
Those URL's are not direct links, and for some reason they are saving as *.bmp. I have to run but on the web page:

The first is under "Front Bumpers" then 930/911 FS-R.

The second is under "Body Kits", them BB Yellow bird.

Please excuse my lameness but I'm late for a meeting! I will try to post the photos later if I can figure out how to change them to *.jpg.

You mean like this?

Courtesy of BW Motorsports

Yup, everything just bolts on. How do you like the 4.2, it was a toss up between that and the S4, I went with the S4, love the performance, but miss the comfort of my old V8Q

Yup, really justa bolt on. The BW pieces fit perfectly. back in the '70s I went through many ducktails before I found one I would keep. I won't accept crap.

Yeah. Bill, was the install a bolt-on?

I am actually toying with the idea of the front FSR bumper and a rear Carrera tail. I think the new front render my bra useless though.

Tom, I read through those threads but no one talked about the installation.

Why does my freakin' computer not allow me to save as *.jpg?!

There you go again Bill, tormenting me with those RUF bumpers!

Every time I see these, I want them, until I talk to a local Porsche body specialist. He says that these things rarely "bolt up," and that the cost to get them installed right can be prohibitive.

Was the installation of yours really just a "bolt on" process? If so, then one could simply have them painted, and then bolt them on at home.

Would fitting the kit that Bill has affect handling on a car without a "tail" in the same way that running with the front lip spoiler would?

Glasgow, if you do exactly what Bill has... yes you should have the wing. Look at the side view of his car, there is a lip that protrudes below the front CTR bumper. Without this, you shouldn't run into as much trouble as a regular lip spoiler without a tail, however I would still get one. The aerodynamics on Bill's car are what you should shoot for, a nice lip and tail.

where is BW Motorsports...no one seems to have them listed?

If I do get the RUF fronts is there a good way to fill in the licence plate gap? ruins the lines of a beautiful bumper.....

i think it would look really clean just flush...even a euro plate would clutter things...I guess I am just being neurotic...

In your case, I agree, particularly because you have to have a front license plate, being in LA. It would look very clean without the rectangular plate mount!! I wonder how you'd deal with the front plate, as it would look kinda odd in that space.

Anyone have a picture of the RUF front lower spoiler that replaced the factory "chin spoiler"? The RUF price is actually less than the OEM...I'd be interested in seeing it.

Josh the front chin spoiler is different between the RUF and Porsche OEM... Sounded like you were comparing the two when they are not the same thing.

I think the cleanest rear end has to be the SKN SC/Carrera
Rear bumper. Very nice. I do not care for the RUF cheese grater look. Then again if you are going for the RUF look you have to go with the RUF rear.

I think the RUF front spoiler is the cleanest and most functional out there (with oil cooler of course). Definately on my future projects list

So the Ruf bumper kit and rubber spoiler will run $3894 and is fiberglass, which the Yellow Bird kit from Better Bodies is $1150 and some sort of flexible poly material?
If you don't need the oil coolers and (I assume) lighter weight of the Ruf why bother?

MJ -

BWMotorsports is in Belleville, IL. Just east of ST.Louis, MO.

That is also where I purchased the bodywork for my SC. It also was a bolt-on. No extensive bodywork needed. Very thick fiberglass material, nice quality. The supplier is in Southern Illinois somewhere, they keep him hidden for good reason.

No US Distributor? I wonder what happened to http://www.stefaniacorp.com/

I am pretty sure Weissach has a US office.

BW motorsports advertises in just about every issue of Excellence. Just look in ad index in back page of issue. There bumpers are also FG, exact counterfit of RUF from what I can see. I plan on getting them for my SC this winter, great looking and weight-loss in best possible place. I love the way they look, front plate cut-out doesn't bother me- looks european- mounting plate will bother me though. Probably put it on oil-cooler screen if absolutely necessary. Also can't decide on rear spoiler- Carerra spoiler is OK I guess, wish there was on slightly smaller and lighter looking.
