twin plug splitter

Anyone ever make their own twin plug splitter for use with a 964 distributor on a motronic car?? Can it be that hard?

Jeff

Nah, save your money for other stuff

I owned one of the splitters from Andial. Pretty simple. All they did was use two ignitors just like the factory did on the 964. I can't see why you couldn't just by the twin coil and ignitor setup from a 964 car and use the single trigger wire from the 3.2 DME just like the factory did with the 964. Would save quite a bit of cash.

Just wire it like this

The dashed wire is the shielded signal coming from the DME

A simple duplication of the 964 circuit won't work. The ignition units "invert" the signal from the DME so in order to use them you need to invert the signal coming from the 3.2 DME before passing it to the 964 ignitors.
See this thread: Twin plug DME splitter? for more info.

Well notice I said "I can't see why", obviously Chris saw why
Heck I'm just a biochemist. I still think you could make a better mousetrap for less money with the 964 setup if you have some electronics skills
