Had My Boxster Wheels Powdercoated
As Said Above. Had A 80% Gloss Black Powder Coat Applied To My Boxster Wheels. I Think They Turned Out Nicely. As Soon As I Get Some New Tires, I Will Put Them On The 911.
Pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() Kinda The Idea Of What They Will Look like Once I Get Some Rubber, And Put Them On.. ![]() Comments? |

Since you're asking for comments, I'd consider blacking-out the centers also. Possibly with the logo in silver. Just a thought.

I've never seen that before. Looks really slick!! I would think Boxter rims aren't too expensive compared to the limited availability of a good pair of Fuchs??

Very, Very sweet. I agree, black the centers too, but it's not bad, just would be better. I always wanted some of the wheels below in gloss black would look great on my old black '88.
![]() But I didn't want to trade my Fuchs for them. I think that when I get my next 911, assuming it's a pre '89, I'm going to get an extra set of Fuchs and go all black on them like in the Gumball Rally.

Wow! Those wheels look great with the centers just the way they are or black too. Will powdercoat hold up as well as plain paint?

I've never been a fan of those wheels...until now. They look really good all black. Nice job and great idea. Send pics wheb you get them on the car. That way I can see how they'd look on mine.

Nice Wheels! I had a set done a few years ago and got bad results, mainly because the company that did it wasnt used to doing wheels. If you dont mind me asking, what does it cost
to powder coat a set of wheels these days? JoeF |

Powdercoating is a stronger finish then paint, takes alot to scratch and chip, compared to paint that comes off pretty easily under normal circumstances.
The coating ran me about $30 a wheel, but the sandblasting was what really ran the cost up at $70 a wheel. The boxster wheels had a really thick coated of silver powdercoat from the factory, so it took a long time for it all to come off. The blasting is charged by the time it takes to remove a finish, which in this case took quite a bit of time. SO the grand total was about $415 ![]() I used powder coated inc. located in Mukilteo Wa. They do great work. www.powdercoatersinc.com As good as the pictures look, these things looks absolutly amazing in person, ill post pics of them on my car as soon as i install them. |

I like the look of black wheels too, but I prefer a little accent on the lip to keep the wheel wells from looking like black voids. I also went with a satin finish since it makes it hard to tell when they get dirty.

I just got black powdercoated Cup II's on my SC and they look great. Al Reed quoted me $55 a rim for the job. The total cost for tire removal, strip and powdercoat, remount was quoted at $220. You can't beat the quality and price of Big Al.

I think $415 is pretty reasonable....
