Gratuitous project pix

The sun was out, so I cleaned all the tools and cage detritus out of the 911 and took it for a quick spin. Everyone stares at this beast when it goes by; cool be the Beverly Hillbillie sans-windows cachet, or maybe the fact that it's loud as hell.

Will this cage make your care more desirable than a coupe with a cage since your center of gravity is lower due to the lightweight top? More desirable in stiffness even?

COG: not to metion the FG doors.

AFA the stiffening, the car remains a lot the same until the cage is attached to the body somewhere in the cowl area and/ or thru-the-bulkhead tubes to near suspension points.

For instance, my 914 was like a cabriolet or Targa in that the rof was not a part of the tub structure. When I attached in front of the doors high under the dash, low on the windshield frame and at the shoulder belt attachment points, the car became much stiffer. All of the attachments were inside the cockpit, so extra class points were avoided by not pentetrating the bulkheads.

I never got a ruling on whether that constituted more than a 4 point mounting and would have added any points. It was done with tabs.

I'm using a Tekniq hub, but I'm contemplating switching to a Momo wheel and a more 'trackish' hub.

Milt, we're on the same page; today's plan was to gusset the front part of the cage.

Jack I agree with you that car is awesome. I am gunning for you though, I just put a deposit on my first 911, a 72 T with 71,000 miles on it. Gonna pop a 3.6 with a 6spd in it and 935 style suspension. Do you think Dave and Tyson would help me out and the widening like they did on yours? I am very intrigued as to what they did to get it to handle so well.
