first engine drop
Well it took me around 3 hours by myself. I was lucky that I didn't have any stuborn bolts to deal with. I did have the 101 project book with me. Only problem was I didn't have the back end jacked up enough to pull the motor out with the jack. I ended up laying it on a piece of plywood and sliding it out. And I forgot to disconect what I'm guessing iis the backup switch. Its stretched some now, hope its OK.

Good job! I've got my first drop coming up in a couple of months. A couple of questions- motor only, or motor and tranny? How high did you have the car raised? I think 36" clear is what is needed, and I was screwing around yesterday with mine. At my normal height which gives me plenty of room on my creeper, I was only 23" clear.

I did the motor and trans. The cable or whatever was screwed into the front of the trans. Next to the shifter rod. Im not sure how high I had it. It was as high as my floor jack would go.

Jwmc,
Are you taking engine out only? If your removing engine and transmission. Make sure you remove the round thing with a wire, this is your speedometer sensor. Backup light switch is the other one which needs to be undone its part of the engine harness. Other wires to undo would be the power to the starter motor and the ignition wire to the starter motor if you are trying to take out engine only.

dmcummins. Thats the cable that runs from the positive battery terminal to the starter. It disconnects at the starter. Dan

I wonder if it was my speedometer cable that I forgot to unhook and pulled about 4" down and at 90 degrees. It screwed into the front of the trans next to the shifter rod.

The speedo cable also needs to be disconnected. It ,as does the positive battery cable stays attached to the body of the car. Dan

It was the speedometer. I dropped it about 4" before I noticed it. I pulled it out from the back of the speedometer in the dash. Oh well they sell it here for 36.50. Probably due to be changed anyway.
