First 911, first post

Greetings from west Michigan from a long time lurker. I've wanted a 911 since childhood, but I've finally been able to take the plunge into the strange but wonderful world of 911 ownership, care, and feeding.

I picked up an 84 Targa, black in color, in late November.

My Targa has a factory wing, sport seats, H4 beams, a factory short shift kit, a killer sound system, and a stainless Borla exhaust. It also came with a stack of receipts for parts and service.

I'm looking forward to the spring. Michigan winters are hard on cars and I don't plan on driving it until the roads are dry and clear of salt.

Here are the obligatory photos.

Wow! Very cool - a hat trick. First post. First pix. First engine / tranny drop. Hell of a way to start the new year!

Have Fun! that's what's it all about.

Nice choice on color, I happen to be partial to black P cars.

Thanks guys. That was a quick response. Lendaddy, I'm in Grand Haven. I bought the car from a guy in Jenison. Have you seen it around?

Deutsch,

Hi there!! Welcome to the board. I think you have my younger sister there. I have basically the exact same car, but one year newer! H4's, sport seats, killer system, and......yes........THE BORLA EXHAUST. Makes the car sound so sweet, huh? Here is a blurry picture, but you get the idea.

I just upgraded to 9's in the rear and moved my 7's up front (the fuchs wheels). Your car looks awesome, and it's great to see another that looks exactly like mine. You know, I don't see that many triple black targas out there. You have got my "twin". Have fun, and drive safe.

By the way, sorry to see your boys lose the Rose Bowl. Real tough loss. I'm a Buckeye, but I'll route for you ONLY when it comes to the bowls. Go Big Ten.

Regards,

Sounds great Lendaddy.

Jbripps, you appear to be a man of great style and distinction with impeccable taste in cars. I like the idea of the wider rims but I have a few more projects that are sapping my budget. Maybe down the road some day.........

I'm not too upset about the Rose Bowl. My wife went to MSU and I attended WMU.

Great looking Targa! You will find out that 911 owners are different than the guys who own water coolers, and Targa owners are even more, well...you'll see.

I've always liked coupes, but driving on a warm summer night the Targa is a Siren in the truest sense.
Mine is metallic black so I gotta say yours looks great.
Enjoy!!!
