Standard Carrera...the "Turbo Look option started in 1984 and included the Tea Tray Spoiler and the brakes as part of it...as well as 7's and 9's. If this is one then the spoiler was replaced, the whells were changed and the brakes were changed...don't know why anyone would do that...sorry

NO Drilled rotors, get a certificate of authenticty from PCA NA , that should convince you.............

Ok ... here's what I've learned and/or realized:
1. I have a stock Carrera Targa and not a turbo-look. 2. The tail was added as an option. 3. The original colour of the Targa script is unknown but I think I prefer the silver as it is over the supposed original black. What I don't know: 1. Did the crested Fuchs originally come in matte black finish? 2. Do I really have 7 X 16" rears, 6 X 16" fronts? (the person who did my appraisal stated 8/7 he's been doing this for 15 years) P.S. I did not buy this car thinking it was a turbolook. This was a mistake I made after the fact. I also paid well below market value.:) |

Remember, the 17 digit VIN system will never reveal options on a 911. I'm a judge on the local concours level. In most concours in my region, originality doesn't really come into play at this level. We only care about how clean and well presented the car is. I've judged some seriously modified cars, and I never deduct points for non factory parts/mods. Again, it depends on how your local concours is set up and what rules are in place. In more advanced concours competitions, such as certain classes at PCA National level (as you may find at the annual Parade), originality will come into play. Otherwise, just clean it up good and show it. Jay 90 964 |
"The first shot is the front right wheel. It's a 7 X 16" on 205/55ZR16
The second is the right rear tire. It's 8 X 16" on 225/50ZR16 As far as the flare goes from what I gathered at out concours this summer I was told that it's midway between the Turbo and Carrera." Wheels are definately 6's & 7's - tire sizes bear this out - these came stock on your car The flares are either Turbo's or Carerra - there is no "midway flare" |

As far as the painted center caps being a factory option - If these were in fact ordered for my car would this appear as an option code on my vehicle identification label (VIL) in the trunk? Also, you may be able to help with the Carrera tail's origin - Would my car have come with this as is or would it have to be ordered as a factory option? If so, would this also appear as an option code on the VIL? Thank you very much for your time, |

I'll have to have a word with my appraiser, Cheers, |
Painted center caps were not an option.

Sorry to hijack but all this talk about rear tails has me wondering if the rubber on a Tea tray spoiler can be switched with the flat rubber spoiler? Would it fit on on the base. Mine is like that one on the red car above. I have thinking about going flat.
Thanks, David |

I finally tracked down where I found the erroneous info regarding my VIN. During my early searches of the net on 911 VIN's I found this website: http://www.porschedecals.com/VIN85s911.htm If you check the series of vehicles with my VIN WPOEBO918GS16.... It is listed as a "Turbo-look". I knew that I had read this before somewhere and that's why I automatically thought that I had a Turbo-look Carrera. I don't feel as stupid as those had me out to be in the initial points of this thread but now only mislead! Cheers, |
If you're unsure about your wheels, take one off and look at the inside spokes for the size, and assume if you take the front off the back is an inch bigger.

The one Targa pictured in my 1987 US factory sales brochure also has a black Targa script. Certainly not an official answer, but at least the factory photographed two of their cars from two model years with black script. Kurt: Thanks for correcting me on my incorrect posting of painted center caps being a factory option. I confused that with the Fuchs centers being painted as an option... (I made even more confusion for Kato!). Jay 90 964 |

If the sales brochure shows this then it's probably what should be there. Cheers, |

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1105493711.jpg Doesn't list the tail or spoiler as an option. Is it possible it was added at the factory and not recorded on the vehicle identification label? Or could the dealership have added it? It's an excellent fit and the paint matches exactly (inside and out) ... if it wasn't there originally someone did an excellent job on installing it! With regard to listed options, The C36 I think means Canadian delivery, Everything else seems to check out (except Monterey Radio ... it's long gone) 401 - Light Metal Wheels - How does that option fit in w/ my crested Fuchs? Cheers, |
