So what's the weight of say a Stock 79 930 with a sunroof, and a AC?

All the weight references I see for 930 from 1978 through 1989 are 2866 - 3053 pounds.

I know there was a gap in the 930 line-up for the US, I just never remember the specific years.
I believe they stopped in late '70's w/ the 3.0 (no intercooler) and either in '84 or '83 (as an '84) brought the 3.3 930 (w/ intercooler), which could account for the lack of US models. |

Couldn't have been the 79 model year as I know of two local 79 US spec 930's in town . and YEP I am looking at another..
So it must not have been the 79 year model that was ousted..

Eric, Not sure of the exact year the 930 was pulled from the US market. I just clipped the sentence out of the article. It goes on to say that the 930 wasn't available again in the US until '86.

This is just info for fun, have a 76 Turbo owner's manual right next to me:
Curb weight was 2635 lbs., a true lightweight for it's 234 hp and 245 ft.lb torque.

I looked over at 911turbo.com and it appears 1979 was the last year for the 930, until '86. The article I quoted from is apparently misworded.
Interesting comment from one post: "US 1979 930 are the last of the Euro fuel system 911 Turbo. They are a lightweight (around 3K lbs.) and easily modified (within limits of CIS). Great cars with all the positive looks of a "proper" Porsche 911 Turbo."

Only Euro turbos were made for 1980 through 1985 model years. 1986 was the first year they brought the 930 back to the US.

Hi Jay, I believe the article you are talking about is about Pat Williams Racing. Basically they remove all the CIS stuff and convert it to EFI. Its usually the route most of the HP junkies take anyway to get past the limitations of the CIS. I also think Stephen at Imagine Auto is working on a similar system as well.
BTW, I see you are also from WI, where abouts?

My 79 930 (which is a US model, #934 to be exact) weighs almost exactly 2900 (soon to be much lighter!). It has fiberglass bumpers but it also has heavy cast wheels so it's probably close to the stock weight.
When I corner balanced mine, my friend's brother put his stock 77 (3.0 non-intercooled) 930 on the scales and it was very close to 2700.
