84 911 carrera transmission & Limited slip

I have a 84 carrera
How can I find out if my transmission has limited slip? My sons tell me I should do a burnout, but I suggested I ask here first..

Thanks
Terry

Juack up the car and put the trans in 5th gear.

Spin one of the wheels - if the other wheel spins in the same direction, you have LSD. If it spins in the opposite direction, it is an open diff.

Ok
Thanks, that sounds easy enough. I guess LSD was an option.

5th gear? I may need to visit the gym, but I can't turn the wheels with the car in any gear.

With mine, in neutral, you turn one rear wheel and the other spins in the same direction.

Look at the very bottom of the transaxle case near the drain plug....I believe if there is a -12 (?) between the code stamp numbers ....it's a limited slip....

The sure way is to hand rotate one wheel ( as stated) when in -gear. Same direction movement of the opposite wheel means limited slip.

Youve raised good sons. I found out that mine did not after a spirited acceleration up a hill from a stop. Looked back to one stripe, bummer didnt have one.

That's funny. Ya they are 16 & 18 and unfortunately (for them good for me) the way I have the car insured, they can't drive it or I'm sure they would let me know..

Thanks John
I will assume that's as Wil said, on the bottom of the tranaxle case near the drain..
