Hell, why not?
I still want to build a 914 with a Subaru-JDM EJ20 STi motor. Intercooling will be a small problem (getting airflow to the I/C), but apart from that it should be sweet! |
Are you kidding?? A few companies put small & big-block Chevy's in motorcycles!!
|
that a real ferrari?

Whazzup with your dog's left eye?

real ferrari
YEAH,Its a real FERRARI. I HATE FERRARI SO MUCH I PUT A CHEVY MOTOR IN IT. AND GAVE IT TO MY 12 YEAR OLD SON. the 308 model is a MUTT WITH MIX-MATCHED PARTS. JUST LIKE THE DOGS EYES..... I.E.they come from the factory with stock 914 brakes,V.W.Rabbit fuse box n wiring the ferrari morons parts people ALWAYS try to better than thou RIP YOU OFF and BULLSHI* you to death I.E. all the F-CAR parts places will sell you a rebuilt steering rack at a tune of $500.00 or more BUT GUESS WHAT! you can REBUILD IT YOUR SELF for a $40.00 nylon seal and GET THIS another seal out of a 1978 FORD PINTO federal mogul part $2.50 yes thats two dollars and fifty cents folks,OH and to BOOT (pun-intended)they call the boots BELLOWS but REALLY they are from a Datsun/Nissan COST $22.00 theirs so much on a 308 to laugh about when it got off the flatbed about 6 years ago I LAUGHED AND SAID WHAT A MISTAKE traded a perfect 74 911 for THE WOW FACTOR ,OH WELL I RE-DID it MY WAY now its 2000 lbs 370 RELIABLE H.P. on a 5-spd ferrari transaxle,GOOD kiddeys ride, THE ITALIANS DESIGN AH...... BUT THE GERMANS ENGINEER , I AM FOREVER PORSCHE ...... for evry Porsche hy-brid in my garage, their is always a 911 factory-mint to keep the faith......

swash, had a blown motor huh, Kevin
|
Hi, KEV .The motor was perfectly good . just that I couldnt stand Enzos timing belt fiasco evry other month their distributor problem (thought about crankfire for a minute) then that AWFUL AWFUL cooling system THEY ARE MORONS.. went to electric pump Ron Davis Custom Cool chevy-engine now I have a happy 12 year old with lots to do....... P.S. gave the motor away for about 2 grand that guy was happy that day....
|
hey swash, how much was the GTO conversion?
the 288 GTO is my favorite ferrari ever... i love it! yours looks good too! |
OK I want one for my 7 year old. Tell us all the details.
|
Swash, I aggree totaly. I work on a few of these F-cars (and I DO mean F___! cars) at our dealership. I like they way they look, but that's it. One of the worst things besides the s--t 'engineering' are the gauges. You'd think that as expensive and overated as those things are they would at least have a nice looking gauge set-up. Every time I get in one they look like the gauge cluster was pirated from a late 70's Pinto.
I actually had a F-customer tell me (after I had expressed my disdain over the interior and gauge set-up in a slightly more PC manner) that the reason they look so cheap is because Ferrari concentrated all of their $$$ on the drivetrain and suspension!! HE WAS SERIOUS!! |
swash, I have thought about doing something simluar, any more details as in where to get the conversion kit, body parts etc, i keep seeing the 308's cheap, Kevin
|
alporsche, please don't get me wrong... a 71T, a 73T, i wouldn't have said a thing! They aren't rare. But just because some previous moron couldn't afford a 993, so he molested his 72, to me, is no excuse to further the charges.
Your right, i probably couldn't afford to buy your chassis and have it shipped to CA. But I personaly CAN bring that car back to OE status! And would if I had the chassis! It would take me about a year to save up for all the sheetmetal and materials, but thats it. I can do EVERYTHING myself. Welding, bodywork, painting, chassis streightening,etc... I have a few sources for late 60's/early 70's rusted out tub 911's with good/fixable bodys to donate to the 72. I did all the work to my 914-6GT replica, so theirs my resume. swash, AWESOME ferrari!!!! Is that a millitary issue Hum-Vee? Adam, a 914 with the STi and intercooling is easy! Since theres one turbo, i'd split the turbo charge in two, sending each tube to the fender wells in front of the rear wheels. THen duct the ambiant air just behind the rear doors to the coolers, and to the wheel wells (or else where). Then from the cooler you go back into the top of the engine compartment through the fire wall. If you want a diagram, i could figure something out. |
if you want to save it...everything's for sale...
kidding...it's gonna be a bastard...it WILL be registered though, so someone can save it someday... BIG...I don't cut them to do the "mutt" install, at least nothing reversible....and as the front pan is all rusted out...that's not like I'm cutting a good front pan. sjd |
f-car -chevy v-8
Hi Guys,Hey Kev the 288 conversion was on the car when I traded it for the 911,but you can get the body stuff from Berlinetta Motorcars in New York or N.J. the guys name is Doug Pirrone he does good work. The adaptor for the small block chevy is a one-off from Bob Norwood at Norwood Performance in Texas check them out on Google they do some killer stuff (1,500)H.P. Porsches,Ferraris,Customs,Twin-Turbos Evry-where.....I mostly made evrything else, pretty simple,if you need advice, pics, specs, no-problem....or maybe my son will take about 12 k or so (hes now becoming a dreaded tuner freak,he will learn quickly about rice grenades) Asphaltgambler... you shared the same pain of working on the f-cars, that blows, I feel your pain, whats cool is, I just removed, n, replaced ,with Current,Quality stuff... Needcash........ I believe you can get all the panels ,around 6 to 8 grand, except the correct . Speedline wheels are getting scarce, I had to sift through many ads, n spend $3500.00. just for the rims. F-cars blow.... P-cars GO ...........n Go...... N Go..........
