Which would you pick if you had these two choices to put into a 911 which will be tracked.
I think I can reduce the weight of the LS1 engine to a safer amount for the track. As for the wrx engine, it would be even lighter than any porsche engine. I know the wrx engine may outhandle the ls1, but the brute torque the ls1 has, is very fun to drive. If both swaps were done perfectly; which would you decide on? the ls1 engine is 430lbs. im pretty sure. the wrx engine should be 350 at most with turbo, loaded and all. thanks. the next post will be on whether it should be awd or rwd. put that c4 transaxle to good use, or get a g50...hmmm....? |

why would you do that?...smell a troll that is...where's that V8 thread...gotta resurrect it.
I love the subaru engine in my "mutt" 912. the car doesn't drive any different, there's power on demand, and I designed the whole thing as a bolt in. write me or come hang out on the porsche V8 renegade boards. search for "porscharu", dude, you'll find lots here. Oh yeah...I'm also building a 2.2L subaru in a '72 widebody shell. That'll be the turbo car. Keep the chassis on the road, no matter what. sjd

check out this link to see what a porsche can do with a V8. The videos are a little slow to load.

So what's more powerful 1,500 pounds of thrust or a V8? I dunno. But there has to be a weight advantage with the helicopter engine... ![]()

Just leave the Subaru engine in a subaru and take that to the track. Jeesus kid what the hell is wrong with you. The WRX is an all-round better track hack than an old 911 anyways.

not when you lose those two extra cylinders and 200 lbs off the rear of your 911. you've got a 50/50 weight disty then...

Of all the chassis your going to put a scubi motor in, WHY THE '72!?!?!?!? WHY???? Honesly, I would never put anything but Porsche in a Porsche, but i respect those choose to do it.... WHEN APPROPRIATE. Rare chassis are NOT APPROPRIATE for "hey, i can't afford to bring it back to OEM status, lets put something cheap and water cooled in it! Huh huh huh!"

I once read about a heavily modified Mazda 13B Turbo Rotary in a 911
![]() OK, so my car is a hybrid too, but damn, I wouldn't even consider shoe-horning such a motor into a 911 ![]()

nothing WE do to it won't be reversible. Trust me, all the good '72 parts will go to a good home. BTW, You couldn't afford to bring it to OE status either. if you can, we're more than willing to sell it to you so it can be restored. Flame away...I only make "mutt" cars from the total basket cases. I know better than to cut a perfectly good car. I love how people fly off the deep end when they find this stuff out. We've got a few parts if you need some. I think the oil tank too...I'd have to check. sjd hee hee hee...
