Check the 76 web page, they list stations that supply high octane fuel. The one I've used is in Westchester on Lincoln near MDR

There is a car wash/ gas station at the corner of Beach Blvd. and Garfield in Hunt Bch. That has a sign that says it has race gas for less than $3.00 a gallon. I have never bought it so i don't know what octane they are selling.

Yes, price shop race fuel because some try and take advantage of the limited availability.
On the other hand, don’t whine too much at the high price. Race fuel has always been more expensive than your high-volume gas station. Count your blessings it is available at all. Some of the reasons for the added price are: Higher manufacturing costs – race fuel requires more expensive product. Limited market – remember these guys have to make some profit on relatively very small quantities. More and better testing – this stuff has far better quality control than regular fuel. High distribution costs – I get mine in 55 gal drums, our local suppliers have it delivered by tanker truck from the refinery – never through a pipeline. Regulations – all the manufacturers and distributors are subject to very restrictive requirements. Of course there are more. Be sure and thank your supplier and remind him you will tell your friends to buy their fuel from him. Best, Grady

The Unocal76 in Mission Viejo sells 100 octane at the pump. It was 5.39/gal last time I was there. The good thing is they are open 24 hours. They are directly off the I-5 at La Paz, on the west side of the freeway.

If you have a place to store it you could call your local VP fuel dealer and get a 55 gallon drum, they come with a small plastic pump. This is what my brother does for his stockcar.

The Texaco in the City of Orange sells VP 101 unleaded and 110 leaded at the pump. Not cheap either, $6.11 for 101 and $5.26 for the 110.
700 W. Chapman Ave. Orange, CA (714) 532-5900 Andial/PMNA as well as myself used to buy race gas from Thompson Petroleum in Anaheim. Andial/PMNA got theirs delivered in 55 gallon drums while I went to the facility off of the 5 freeway near Disneyland/Angels Stadium. This was years ago, don't know if they are still around or not. Thanks for all the replies. We found a place near Fresno that will load a 55 gallon barrel in my Dad's trailer. $4.50 a gallon (76 brand) 110 octane. OC prices are crazy (yeah, I know I should of expected it)
I have to use the 100 unleaded octane for now because I have a wide band oxygen sensor on the exhaust to tune the motor. Leaded will F'up the sensor. We will be bringing barrels to the race track from now on.

76 in Lakewood. Lakewood Blvd and 91 fwy...
A co-workers husband sells Sonoco all types and octanes(distrubutor) out of his shop in HB, I can confirm 55 gal drums. IIRC she had indicated that he would sell it to me in the drums and I could store it... I thought the price was low $5 range...

Chad,
Check out KRS Distributing in Fontana/Ontario. I know they had and still might have an office in Fountain Valley as well. They usually deliver to our shop but I was able to pick up from their Fontana/Ontario location last time we raced at CA Speedway. They are only a couple exits east of the track on the 10 freeway. |

Anthony-
I did call them. I think they are smoking crack with their prices. With tax and everything it was like $5.76 a gallon + delivery charges. I told them I would just buy at the track for $6 bucks and not have to worry about lugging a barrel around. I'm sure you guys get "volume" pricing. You going to be at annual tech? If so see you there. I cant wait to race!!!

Chuck,
Bryant racing fuels or something like that. They are located on the outskirts of Fresno. My dad called them (He lives in Fresno). If you still cant find them send me a PM, I'll call him for the number.

My local alliance (San Fernando Valley) used to have it for $3.80/gallon (VAnowen and De Soto for you valley people), they've recently hiked it to $4.00 but that's still okay by me. There's an Alliance that's still at $3.80/gallon somewhere in Sun Valley on Sherman Way but I don't venture out that far.
