using the rail adapters of older OEM seats for mounting Recaro polepositions or PPGs
Anyone tried successfully to use the old rail hardware off the oem seats (Recaros) to adapt them to mount race seats for their track/street cars?

I used the stock rails from my '78 Recaros to mount both SRD's and Pole positions in my 930. In the end, I decided to mount the pole positions directly to the floor mounted pedestals since the rails add an extra inch(plus) in height. The holes from the early sliders should line up with the new seats.

Do your original sliders lock on one side only, or both? If one side only, they're not going to be as safe, and are less likely to pass tech at a track event.

When you say lock on both sides...are you saying that both rails have so called locking tabs? I am just familiar with the locking tabs on the rail that incorporates the seat adjustment handle. The other rail is free floating.

Thanks for the safety points raised Jack. The reason I asked is because I have a pair of stock cloth seats from a 1977 911 (euromodel). The seats are not worth saving but I thought if I could save the mounting hardware at their base then I'd do so when I get track seats for use in say a later 1985 Carrera 3.2 or 964. There may be problems using the rails from a 1977 in the 964 but the pre-89 cars are probably doable.

The rails with locking tabs on both sides will use a crossbar/handle linking both rails for forward adjustment. One side free floating is a bad idea with something as flexible as a fiberglass seat. I'm not sure when/if Porsche updated to dual-locking rails, but they're what I'm using with my Pole Position SPG's.

Jack, that makes sense when you factor in the fiberglass. I bolted my Pole Positions directly to the fixed pedestals on the floorboard to save on room. I guess that means I am legal, and also have plenty of room for a helmet now.
