WAHOO!!!! more on chipping my 964

Hey everyone... I tried to post this as a reply to my old post but it didn't work... anyway

Well, as everyone who read the old post knows, I really don't like autothority's chips anymore... and incidentally I found out on monday that autothority no longer exists, it is now pitstop motorsports...

Karl the owner of European Road and Racing another local shop here in Charleston told me that he recently found Powerchip and loves them and is a distributor so he gave me a chip for an australian RS (same as euro RS) to put in my car, and OH MY GOD!!! it feels like my car just gained 25hp... it feels like someone stuck a turbo on it and didn't tell me. It's so fast it scared me, I let the engine warm up and then punched it in third and I was doing 110mph before I even knew what happened. Powerchip now has my vote of confidence... I found a local shop with a chassis dyno, I almost want to stop by and see how much of a difference it actually made. I bet once the mass flow sensor and exhaust is on the car it's going to be frighteningly fast.

Is this chip a plug and play?

Where do you get a hold of this chips?

Yes, the chip is plug and play, they all are for 964s

the website for them is www.powerchip.com.au also performance products (granted they're evil b@stards) sells them.

I'm still in the honeymoon period where I think the chip is the greatest thing in the world, but I would definitely recommend at least checking them out.

If you have a 964, the No Bad Days chip is a better solution (IMO). You get two chips in one -- a toggle switch takes you between stock and modified maps. It's an idea so good, you wonder why no one thought of it sooner. Suddenly, emissions checks are a breeze, low-quality gasoline doesn't cause you anxiety, and you can pick and choose when you want the extra ponies.

I put it on a dyno testing both before and after, and saw a 17 hp jump. See the dyno sheets here.

Is it same the what "wastintime" is talking about?

do you simply buy the chip plug it in and off you go to feeling more power (+17hp) ?

Yes. That's how it worked. I could book time on a dyno and tune a custom chip (and one day, I might). But this one was set up for a 964 motor with a lightweight flywheel, and it was a good fit right out of the box.

It is not the same one Wastintime is talking about. I think he plans to dyno his car with/without his chip in the future, though.

I've been meaning to ask you a question about the NBD chip. The only thing about it that bothers me is the fact that although the chips are plug and play, it still takes time for the system to readapt to the new programming. In fact accoreding to Bosch, the battery needs to be disconnect, and then attach the bosch hammer and use the adaption (that's how the german's spelled it) function in the DME menu. Otherwise it can take up to a week of driving the car for all of the new programming, maps, and tables to be working 100% of the time. It just seems like if you're constantly changing what paramaters your DME is working with it never gets a chance to do this. Just wondering if you've noticed anything about that, or if NBD happens to mention this at all?
