DP post #1

These are pictures of a friends DP- This is the car I mentioned previously that had a 91136.... serial number- It was built from a 73 RS car. Another friend bought it and did a very nice restoration to RS specs. This was about 20 years ago (OMG!!!) and the RS stuff was still relatively easy to get. The DP stuff is long gone, too...

Quick search turned this up. http://www.dp-motorsport.de/ for some reason i just forgot how to hyperlink but if you go to that page, click on produkte and then on DP 35 you get something very close to this car. The 935 lookalikes were very popular and quite a few were turned out by DP, Porsche, and some other German tuners. The first 935 lookalike car was built for Monseur Ojeih, I dont remember which Porsche book I saw that in but I did.

Ok good thing I can still read german. DP was started in 73 by Ekkehard Zimmermann. Some words in there I havent heard in a while but it goes something like this. He did bodywork for VW back in the day then got involved with what would be formula V racers. From that he ended up working with the Kremer brothers most notably the bodywork on the K3. Then he started doing bodywork for road going 911's and his most notable conversion was the 935 lookalike. Went from dead on K3's to iterations like the one above. He also did the bodywork on the Kremer CK5.

All of the cars were street legal in Europe with a handful making their way here. Today his son runs the business and they have their own race team. Many of you probably know about their 996 GT2, they call it a DP5 that is seen blasting away from everyone in those films from races at the Nurburgring. Hope that helps a bit.
