Valve guides replacement
Hi folks,
My 87 Carrera is burning quite abit of oil but my plugs are clean. So I guess my valve guides need replacing pronto. Appreciate if anyone can help me with a list of items I would need as part of the valve guides replacement job. My guess would be: 1. Valve guides 2. Cam cover gaskets 3. maybe exhaust valves? 4. ?? Thks! |

the intake valve stems are usually quite worn, if you take a mic to them. intake, exhaust gaskets, valve cover kit, tuneup parts, oil, filters, cam lines maybe, check the clutch, for a few things.

Are you new to the 911? I am, and what I thought was a lot of oil being burnt was actually normal oil consumption. Could that be the case?

I've used about 1.5 litres in about 8000 Km (5000 miles).

when it gets to a quart in 300-500 miles, it's probably time. a crusty oil fouled plug in one hole gives you a clue too.
