Identify this Engine please

I purchased '70 911 with what I was told is a rebuild 3.0L SC motor from a different car. It has updated tensioners, carrera valve covers and supposedly higher compresson 10:1 pistons.

But I'm a little confused as to the serial numbers on this engine. It doesn't match my other SC engine.

The vertical number on the side of the fan is:

*67C0298*

The horizontal number is:

930/60

I have this engine up for sale. But if it turns out to be something special I may just rebuild it. Low compression in cylinder 2.

Can anyone enlighten me?

A 930/60 is a RoW 3.3 Turbo, 97 x 74.4 = 3299 cc.

I think the "C" may be a zero.
If so;

670xxxx

6 = Six cylinders.
7 = Turbo 3.3 RoW/Japan.
0 = 1980
xxxx = Consecutive serial number.

If so, that would make it an '80.

If it has the 74.4 mm stroke crank, you could add some 100 mm P&Cs and have a high compression 3.5. Worth looking into.

According to the Red book it is 1981 turbo engine for RoW/Canada.

I have made sure. There is definitely a "C" in the number not a zero.

But the engine is an NA. Did someone build a NA engine out a turbo case?

And the “C” appears to indicate a 1982 model year engine.

That now leans toward an ’82 3.3 Turbo 930/60.

Yes, you can build a NA engine on that base.

looks like its a 930 turbo motor from a 82.

I don't want to open up the case to see what's in it until I'm sure if I want to rebuilt it. But it has been converted to NA.

My next question would be what would this motor be worth after a rebuild or in its present condition?

Currently cylinder two is dead. I may pull the head and check to see if it's a valve. All other cylinders have good conpression.

I would recommend an additional cylinder leak test. That will give you an indication of where a problem is. You can do this even if the engine is out of the car.
