101 Projects Question
Does the 101 book cover dropping the engine and transaxle as a single unit?

Do a search on engine drops here on the board and you will get all the support you could possibly need for an engine only or combo drop.

No. The book discusses dropping the engine only, leaving the tranny in the car. IMHO harder than dropping the engine/tranny as a unit. Dropping the tranny also give you the opportunity to give it a good lookover and trying to mate the engine with the tranny is the car is a BEAR.

My personal experience is that dropping the engine by itself is easier, but installing the engine by itself is much harder. I found that lining everything up and getting the clutch fork in the right place can be a real pain, pulling the starter to look through the hole makes it easier.
The consensus of the board says to drop them together and seperate them afterwards. |

Thanks guys,
I guess I will pull them together. I have never had the chance to inspect my transaxle, so now will be a good time. I'll try a search and see what I come up with.
