It was pretty signficant... but you probably aren't going to be at the same speeds as the cars that generated that degree of benefit - and it's non-linear. I do expect you'll get a reduction in wind noise.

It's still an interesting project and please post more info as you proceed.

It looks awesome.

Are we shooting for a CTR Yellowbird look in blue? A 3.4-liter Bluebird?

Scooter 02-15-2005 11:44 AM

Jack, a Yellowbird is not modified enough for Dane. He is going many steps beyond, e.g., Jack Olsen land. ;) How about Blue Beauty? LOL

randywebb 02-15-2005 12:12 PM

That's Ok, but "Baby Blue" and "Baby Blue II" are already taken...

rdane 02-15-2005 01:22 PM

Think duck and a narrow body IROC front in ice blue...not baby blue :)

Ice blue as in Cold Duk.

Craig 930 RS 02-15-2005 01:29 PM

Blue car......Dane, you still doing the vanity plate "RBRDUCK"?
Remove the heating and call it COLDDUK;)

rdane 02-15-2005 02:09 PM

Still, RUBRDUK Craig. My rubber duck at that, no matter the color :) Added another twist today...pictures when I get a chance.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Motor is still in the works.
Depends on how many body parts I sell in the next few weeks how far I take it.

Suspension is nothing new, sport Biltsteins, rsr struts, lowered spindels, Elephant mono balls or poly bronze on the rest, 22/30s Sanders, Carerra sways, 930 brakes with floating rototrs in front and a brake bias valve in the cabin. Last thing going in will be the Wevo camber plates with roller bearings for the rear. Rims are off to Al Reed for the RSR look.

It'll look different but pretty much drive the same with a bit more power.

Engine:

Take er all the way. One shot deal.
The ultimate 3.4!

rdane 02-15-2005 02:16 PM

Craig they buy the right body parts and it won't be a 3.4 ;)

Craig 930 RS 02-15-2005 02:24 PM

More power to ya.

rwpiper 02-15-2005 02:45 PM

Dane, Holy sh*&%! You have gone off the deep end! What a cool car; an Excellence candidate for sure. I can't wait to see the finished product. Will you be using chrome trim?

Craig 930 RS 02-15-2005 02:47 PM

The deep end is a great place to swimhttp://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/loki5.gif

Craig 930 RS 02-15-2005 02:52 PM

Correction:

.......I've learned that my 'water' is made up of $$$ signs, not aqua blue goodness:p

rwpiper 02-15-2005 02:53 PM

Apparently I'm still in the kiddie pool....
Dane, how was the sunroof delete done? I would love to make this mod, as I need new paint on the roof and a new headliner anyways so I "misewell" delete the sunroof. I've seen it done by replacing the whole roof skin and also by welding in the original panel.

KobaltBlau 02-15-2005 02:54 PM

Ice blue isn't metallic, is it?

BTW I like the cobalt blue as well! :)

Reg, the house is not mine, but in a whimsical neighborhood. I don't own the car anymore either but will always like the color. the car is a '92 but porsche's 997 cab launch info on their website right now features the same cobalt blue.

Hey Bobby! I just asked Mark and Phil @ Eurotech to comment here on some of the body work they do. Us locals are lucky to have them around.

Seemed easy enough watching them :) More importantly the price was right. Perfect mod when you need to respray the roof.

KB, this ice blue is a light metallic or pearl can't remember which.

Shaved!? -- Daaaammnn, Dane.

rdane 02-16-2005 06:13 AM

I'm liking the name "SCHICK" for this car. Island, guys what do ya think?

island911 02-16-2005 07:25 AM

:D oh yeah - perfect.

. . . that name is smooth.

Shuie 03-05-2005 07:18 AM

Smoothie :)

This was a damn fine car before it went under the knife. It is going to be even more incredible when its done. Nice job! Blue with rough anodized fuchs is going to be awesome.

Make sure you tell Al to make them more powdery white than silver. When he did mine they didnt exactly come out as white as the RSR finish is supposed to be. Im sure he can do it now, but at the time my wheels were his first attempt at this finish.
