As a curiosity, here's a picture-in-picture clip from today using a View-2 box to combine the video from both cameras.

Normally, I wouldn't put the smaller in-car picture together with footage shot from the front bumper (since there isn't a good place for it to go), but the wing camera isn't currently installed. In the future, I'll do picture-in-picture with the wing camera and the in-car camera, and then do cut-aways to footage from the front bumper.

Woohoo! I got the mini vcr and the lipstick camera... the mini vcr is pretty sweet. Works well. I fed video into it through my camcorder, great!

The lipstick camera on the other hand hasn't worked yet. I think I'm screwing something up. Ok, I bought a "Gold Plated RF adapter, accepts phono plug to convert to BNC jack (RCA)" for the video feed which then hooks up to the video in RCA to mini plug through the use of a female-female (sounds kinky) RCA plug... I'm attempting to power the camera witch a Voltage selectable AC adapter set to 12V. I get nothing. I checked the adapter on a CD player to make sure it worked... it worked... I tried switching the polarity, still nothing. I hope I didn't fry the thing if i got the polarity flizm-flozmed... I think I will try a second power source made from an 8-pack AA battery supply...

Jack, how do you power your lipstick camera???

I'm pretty stoked right now about this... the mini vcr is tiny, and light... no extra weight.... :-)

I power the lipstick cameras with 12V auto power. I've never used one with an AC adapter. Are you sure your positive/negative orientation was right on the power source? Also, in electronics, there are things called amps and watts, which I rarely understand, but I'm told are important.

Jack,

That's my next step, I bought a cig lighter plug so I can use car power. I'll be messing around with that this weekend. Yeah, the amps and watts thing. I'm not a spark chaser by trade, but the 12V DC and 500mA requirements must be hit for this camera to work properly.

More to come...

Alright guys, what was the consensus on these units? Certainly, someone has come up with one that works the best. It's been a couple of years since this thread and I'm looking for a good set up with multiple bullet (lipstick) cameras.

Thanks,
SS
