Pagid Blue's

Pagid blues

Are these pads appropriate for street use with a bit of track action every once in a while? Do they squeal like a bag of stoats in street use? what's the dust factor like? I believe there's 2 compounds 4-2 and 4-2-1 which is better?

I'm looking for an upgrade to the typical road pad (have mintex 1144 at present), but don't want them to squeal or create a dustbowl. Other suggestions gratefully received, or should I stick with the mintex?

Brake set up is A caliper front, M rear on a 1972 coupe

A lot of us are happy with MetalMasters. No squeal, no dust, and will even hold up to the ocassional DE. On the other hand, heard lots of good things about the Pagids, but have never personally used them.

I put Blues on my Boxster. I'm been very happy with them - they make much less brake dust and stop better than stock pads, especially on the track. They will squeal like a banshee your first few hundred miles. If possible, try to put them on just before a track day, as a good DE will really "wear them in" and cut down the noise. If they're cold, they will make some noise on the street, but a few hard stops should cure that.

Also, be sure to bed them in according Pagid's directions. I'm very happy with the pads as a street/occassional track pad, and will replace them with Blues again when the time comes.

thanks guys, Metal Masters are as far as I can tell not available in the UK, so I might treat myself to some pagids.

Anyone know fi there's a difference between the 4-2 and 4-2-1 versions?

I'm pretty sure you want the 4-2-1, otherwise known as Pagid Blue Sports.

cheers steve, just noticed our host sells Metal Masters and they are WAY cheaper than pagids, may have to build my self a stateside order. If I don't like the pads I can always go for pagids the next time

Pagid Blue and Sport Blue are both nice no squeel combination street and minor track pads. They do shed a lot of dust, but it's not as corrosive as the dust from Textars.

For a much better price the Axxis Metal master which also is marketed as PBR Metalmasters are a much better choice for the S, A and M calipers.

Pagid sport blue should not be more noisy or dusty than Mintex C-tech 1144.

you will want to swap pads for track use for the best performance on street and track, IMHO. When you already have the wheels off, it's not much more trouble.

i've run both blues and oranges on the street... blues never really made any noise, but orange will drive you insane unless you get them really really hot every once in a while.
