5 blade vs. 11 blade question...
i tried to search on this before i asked, but couldnt find anything....i know this is a popular upgrade, but how much of a difference does it make upgrading to an 11 blade fan from a 5 blade? i have located a loud vibration in my car due to the 11 blade fan having 2 blades broken, and when looking for a another one, it looks like it's going to cost a pretty penny to replace it...considering 5 blades are damn near free, are the 11 blades worth the money?
thanks |

The 11 blade fans are about six blades better.

I stand corrected. The 11 blade fan may not be much of an improvement;
how much will going to 11 blade fan help my cooling

The key is an 11-blade fan turning 1.82:1 crank speed. This keeps the important parts cool – the heads and cylinders. Yes, it is also important to keep the oil temperature under control with a properly sized front oil radiator. That is farther down the line from the cooling air.

not parts haven, but our host wants almost 300, silverstar here in sac is stupid, and i havent had much luck finding other used ones. plus i could use the money saved on more important things right now, the vibration doesnt do anything to the car, its just annoying.

bio, the vibration will probably mess something up, like the bearings inside of your alternator if you keep it up. i fried a lawnmower once, when i sharpened the blade and did not balance it. it didnt last very long, and my mom was not happy. it cannot be that diff, with your situation. call partsheaven, ask for spencer, they are a great used parts place. they mail order, and are very reliable.

Doesn't the 5 blade fan have a very distinct sound?
