3.2 prices go through the roof!!!!
Ebay is the place of sellers. Wow a 3.2 with fire damage goes for $37k. Multiple bids over $37,000 for a 60k mile 3.2. Its a crazy world or really sloppy bidders who can't type. Might be some negative feedback coming.

Unless there is two people that can't type, this is really fishy.
Here is what I think may be going on: One pal of the seller (carerrasport) is shill bidding and the guy that wants the engine bad (pca_membr911) gets wind of it and gets upset, typing in 100k. Any other ideas? At any rate, lifting the engine on straps that you tie around the intake runners is GREAT! People are nuts, if they hope for more than a core crank here. Ebay is a sellers market, no question. George |

WILD........but I just read in PP classifieds about an apology from somone to fourbyfourclub for messing up his aution for a 3.2, because of a typo. I bet these pricing anomalies are related OR at least one of them is.

Methinks it's a good way to lock up the bidding. Add an extra zero on accident, and insist you made a mistake. In the meanwhile, there will be no other bids...
Cute. rjp

Look at pca_member911 past ebay sales and you'll see that the other crazy bidder for this engine, carrerasport, regularly runs the bids up for him. Uh oh.

Unfortunately, this type of bidding is likely more common than we'd like to believe. It's just way too easy to have a friend "help" a bit, or have 4 accounts and use them to stimulate each other. I am not saying that this is happening here, but it definitely is odd that two people have a "typo" ...
And Ebay probably looks the other way. At least I doubt that they look for patterns actively. It should be easy to automatically search and find people that are their own customers frequently. If the prices go up, Ebay gets more $ from the final value fee. Why bother? George Last edited by aigel; 02-09-2005 at 09:54 PM.. |

With this kind (and much more) rampant "cheating" and "fraud", why in God's name does anyone use e.Bay?

I know "carrerasport" and I really doubt he did anything but make an honest typo.

Still $3,700 for a burnt 3.2???? Isn't that a little much? I thought max for a 3.2 in good shape you could expect 4.5 - 4.7k. Am I off? I am interested as I will be selling mine soon.

I've recently seen a 964 3.6 for under $4k & a 993 3.6 under $5k recently (both ~40,000 miles). Are these coming down in price?

Those prices are ridiculous, but it's common to find 964s for less than late 3.2s. The early 993s are in the high $20Ks to low $30Ks. Probably later this year, late 3.2s and early 993s will be close in prices. Have to love all the 993 problems, e.g. SAI emission failures, CCU systems, valve guides, heat, harnesses, & etc.
