maybe size does matter? Pix!
Car won't start?
I'm installing an Odyssey battery in the smugglers box of my sc. The battery is the remarkably small, 15lbs, PC-680. My question is that when I hook it up and try to start the car the engine turns over great, but it won't start. So I give up, I hook up the terminals to the old battery and the car starts. Am I born to lose, what is the problem here???

Nice watch!
I used to have a PC680 and never had any problems with starting my '72 2.4 MFI motor.

Nice bracket! Has the battery ever worked? Maybe you got a "dead" battery?

If the engine is turning over fast but not starting could the battery be low?

I'll bet there's a separate wire coming off the terminal for the ignition that's not making good contact when you bend the cable over to the smuggler's box.
Anyway, what's with the watch? C.W.

Every PC-680 comes with a commemorative watch.
Actually, I placed it there for scale for people who have not seen this battery. I'm very proud of this battery, the only thing that could make the moment more special is if the car would start. |

I believe it is a sealed lead acid battery but the seal is so good it an be installed on its side.
"based on the same battery technology offered to the military for aircraft and tank batteries. Odyssey batteries are of military grade and have endured rigorous tests that demonstrate their overall ruggedness and exceptional tolerance of mechanical abuse. Works in Tanks and aircraft , maybe if I make some airplane sounds it'll work. * 6 to 10 year service life * 99.9% pure lead providing minimal plate corrosion * Explosion proof * Corrosion proof * 2 to 3 times the cranking power of equilivant size battery * Spill and leak proof * Superior vibration resistance * Fully Charged out of the box * When fully charged can be stored for up to 2 years at 77¡F * May be installed on its sides at any angle without sacrificing performance attributes * Won't start Gerard's 911 |

Kurt, you were right, I missed on of the accessory cables.
Car started, I'm happy. Embarrassed but happy. |

Same battery as I use. Out of interest the "parent" company is Hawker de Haviland.

Hi strupgolf,
The battery costs $90, about the same as a regular battery and ONCE INSTALLED CORRECTLY, works just fine. I've been using it for a few days now and no troubles. I still can't get over the size. And now that it's relocated behind the front wheels I "believe" that the car handles better because I want to believe. |

Gerard, great set up, I've been thinking about doing the same for my car, where did you get the battery mounting relocation kit and for how much? Thanks
