A special message to the local law enforcers

I attended the advanced driver's workshop today at Ray Catena in NJ, and they have an extremely impressive service facility. Aside from it being huge, the "waiting room" is insane. There are about 10 tables with internet-enabled computers, several pool tables, a big screen TV, a full golf simulator (a separate room, in itself), and large selection of courtesy beverages and snacks. Very cool.

Among the multitude of extremely impressive vehicles, we stumbled across this car, which we think is a GT2:

That's funny...

I've had a few ideas along the same lines...., it's one of the only personalised plate concepts that I like.

Does the guy think he can outrun a radio?

Baiting nervous1 people with guns is not my idea of a smart thing to do.

1 nervous because they know they may get shot at every traffic stop.

He also had a big "fraternal order of police" metal emblem suctioned-cupped to the side window, fwiw.

I wouldn't even consider a plate like that. No reason to antogonize. My driving is likely to do that anyway.

Mike, really glad to see your banana again!

Cute plate until being followed by a cop having a bad day, and you decide to flip on the turn signal 100 ft before your turn rather than the 300 the law requires.

It's also good for people to remember when phoning in to John Law for dangerous driving, being a suspected DUI/DWI or what ever. Stealth on a car driven fast is always a better approach - even when it comes to plates.

My favorite vanity plate seen on a Lambo was DOES185.

actually as first responders the plates help allow being flagged thru to fire and rescue scenes. Dumping the car any where quickly on scene is not a problem. Many many guys routinely carry radios and pagers.. actually PD&FD are never really off-duty, even when their out of their district.

All the older cops that I know are cool guys. It's the young ones, that are still wet behind the ears(like my daughter) that you have to watch out for. Also, one of my best friends who just retired likes to fly in his beamer.

the cards are different than the plates. DMV wants proof or a statement.

ps: in NY, FD plates get pulled for one speeding ticket.

I assume this car is owned by a cop. If not the owner has a pair much bigger than mine. 'Course in this country capitalism rules. Enough dough and you can thumb your nose at 'em all.

Having only ever attempted to outrun two cops in my life... and succeeding thanks to one who couldn't drive for crap, and either a very cool or very confused truck driver, I guess I can't really comment on how stupid it is to run from the cops, but that's a darn cool plate.

Mike Z;

Here's some background on the California Firefighter's license plate.

The money raised from the license plate fee goes to help fund the Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Sacramento. The monument honors the 900 firefighters that sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, working for the citizens of California. The bulk of these donations were made by firefighters through the purchase of the special license plates, the rest came from other private donations made by firefighters and their supporters. Of course, many firefighters also purchase the plate because they are proud of their profession and want to show that pride.

I had one of these plates on one of my vehicles but let it go after I retired. One of the few tickets I have received in the 43 years I've been a licensed driver in Ca. was during the 3 years I had the plate on my vehicle.

I have no idea why your so bitter towards Police & Fireman but I do know that your remarks are a rude insult to the members of this board who serve their communities as such. IMHO

When I lived in Wyoming, a Hwy Patrol cop did tell me that he knew of two cases where cars had gotten away -- they were so thinly spread that they couldn't close the net fast enough -- despite the fact that Wyo. only has about 8 paved highways...

As a Police Sergeant, I think those plates are great! People are very creative. I take no offense to these plates at all. I chimed in on this thread after Mikez's comments were edited. Mike, you are free to express yourself as you see fit. It is hard to offend me when I see GSV's (Gun Shot Victims) on a daily basis.

Still waiting on a ride-along......David

So, David, do you think most officers would respond the same way? Factor in that most are not - ah, shall we say "graduates" - of USMC.

I would not think that most cops would be offended by these obviously *tongue in cheek* license plates, in my experience most love a good joke.

I think the problem stems from @sshole cops, and there are some of them. Lol, I went out with a cop's daughter for a while, her dad was pretty cool, and I have a few friends that are cops, most are pretty cool, it's the few real jerks that you have to deal with that give them bad names.
