Removed the P & C tonight and seperated one cam tower from the heads. I was hoping to make it through with no surprises but no such luck. The #2 piston has a broken skirt. I have to assume that it happened during disassembly. The broken piece basically came off in my hand as I was inspecting it. It does appear to be a fresh break but I can't for the life of me remember any time that the piston was in a bind or hit anything. Oh well, now I search for options.

IT was good luck that it came off in your hand and not in the engine.. seems odd though.. and what kind of p/c's are on it? Can't mix and match.... Probably find a used set up if someone is breaking up a set that has only 4-5 good ones... I guess you should get a p&c together if possibleotherwise make sure it's the right pistons material......off the subject a bit were the lower head studs steel? Had to be a snag somewhere... everything else went so well..Good luck bud..
Guess this would be a good reason to have the machine shop run a magnaflux check on the rest of them..cheap insurance.. No chance you tapped it with the hammer when you were removing the wrist pin?

Hey Kev.,
Any more pics or updates? Any idea on what was going on with the valve that was noisy?
