strut install question
Ok, here's a dumb question...
Do the three bolts that screw in through the top of the strut tower actually thread into the body sheet metal and then into the strut? Or, just thread into the strut itself after passing through the tower? Thanks! Markus |

They pass through the body, and into a plate underneath that is not part of a body.

Do the bolts actually thread into the plate underneith the tower or just pass through before threading into the strut?
If the former, can I replace this plate separately? I have a crossthreading problem. Thanks, Markus |

The three bolts are for your alignment adjustment and connect the strut mounting plate to the car.

The bolts thread into the plate on the bottom side of the strut tower. The two parts actually sandwiches body sheet metal. The strut connects to the plate through 2 large rubber bushings and the large nut with large cup in the middle of the plate. You may be able to drill and tap to larger bolt to salvage the bottom plate. Hope this helps.Dan

Dan,
Is the plate on the bottom side of strut tower replaceable without getting into the bodywork (if sandwiched)? |

Yes, it is replaceable, but you can re-tap it for a slightly larger size, or may just be able to clean up the old buggered up thread with just a clean tap.
