alternator numbers

I've got a '71 911E, basically stock & am having an ongoing problem keeping batteries charged & alive, might have something to do with not being driven enough. But can anyone tell me what my alternator/voltage regulator should be discarging at?

If I understand your question -- your '71 should have a 55 amp alternator. Jerrry M '78 SC

Perhaps I misunderstood your question, so here's another answer. With the engine running at approx. 2000 RPM, put a VOM on the battery terminals, you should, at least, 13.5 volts (charging) on the VOM. Jerry M '78 SC
