turbo 8s on sc???
I've located a pair of turbo 8 inch wheels for the back of my sc.
Unlike regular 8s the offset means the extra rubber would end up on the inside of the wheel well as apposed to the outside. So, there is no visual benifits to getting these. My question is, on a street driven car is there any advantage to getting the extra inch of rubber or should I just stay with my 7s untill I can locate the increasingly rare 8s. Oh, seller wants $400 each for the turbo 8s. |

? turbo 8 inch ?
that's a meaningless description for 5 spoke Fuchs there are 3 8s

+10.6mm 8x15 911 also used on early 930 rears
+10.6mm 8x16 also used on mid production turbo rears
+23.3mm 8x16 used on 944/951
the first 2 will fit any SC/Flare rear fine, the last will sit inboard too much unless a spacer is used.

Gerard,
Sounds like 930 Turbo 8's - with the deep dish lip! Run 225/50/16's on the rear 8's. Move your 7's to the front with 205/55/50's The prefered SC/Carrera Fuchs set up! Will fill your wheel wells nicely! Enjoy! Jason |

I believe Gerard is referring to Turbo 944 (ie 951) 16x8, since he mentioned "there is no visual difference" (compared to a 911 offset 16x7).
If this is the case, most afficionados would recommend putting these on the front, and locating a pr of 911/930 offset 16x8 or 16x9 for the rear. It depends on what you're after: LOOKS of deep lips on the wheels at reasonable cost (16x7 front and 911 16x8 rear). Or WIDEST tires that will fit: 944 turbo 16x8 front, and 930 16x9 rear. Personally, i've got setup #1: 16x7,16x8 both 911 offset on my '86 Carrera Mike ![]() |

Thanks gentlemen,
I should have given more specific information but it looks like you figured it all out anyway. I think I'll hold off for now and wait untill I can find 8s or 9s for the rear with the 911 offsets. This way the back wheels will look wider then the front when the 7s move forward. Besides, wanting is often better then having. Right? Right??? |
