I was going to say that must be one heck of a license plate frame to be going for $345 but for those who don't know like me, here are a few links.

This was speculated on earlier this month in a thread which appeared here concerning a concourse grade early 911S....I'll bet the seller read that thread and got the idea.....

SOLD. $345 -

I'd suspect the above frame is worth even more, as it doesn't have "audi' on it - may indicate it is even older and more 'pure Porsche'

If the frames are that much and someone knows, guess what is going to start disappearing off your cars if you have one on there. I throw out an idea, replica license plate frames and donate the money to the foundation for cancer research.

I didn't want to say it before, but how hard would it be for anyone to start reproducing perfect counterfeit frames from (1) original one? There are companies all over SoCal that stamp these things out, (including whomever stamped out the original VP frames for them), I mean come on, they stamp out fake Rolexes and Louis Vitann(sp?) bags, how hard is a freaking LP frame??

Sorry, but anyone who pays big $$ for this item is just a 4-square poser. A sucker. A trick who deserves to be separated from their money.

I'd start stamping them out, but there is a pretty small time frame/window of opportunity before every sucker has one and the gig is up. Then I'd have to wholesale a *****load of the left-overs to the 99 cent store, where no one would know how "valuable" they are.

Pretty much what I was thinking when I posted this - ridiculous money, easy to reproduce.

It would be an interesting conversation item, but for $345 I'm spending my money on something that makes my car go faster, stop shorter or turn better.

There's one born every day, and two to take him...

Alex, "What is a sucker?"

Correct, for $345.00

It's the same kind of PCA concours crap where guys argue about which way the Porsche crests pointed from the factory (toward the valve stem) or which way and how far apart the upholstery staples faced on the underside of the back seat bottoms.

At one point, I was the same way. And it got in the way of enjoying my cars. I've learned to let go.

Another way of looking at it is you've paid $350 for a frame to enhance your megabuck 911S.

But then again my car would rate a 'beater' at a concours, so what do I know...
