The Smart tire system is reasonably accurate - within a pound anyway, not good enough for racers but fine for me.
Are your tires perhaps getting old and worn? Is there anything weird w/ your rear suspension settings (maybe string, weight, and straightedge could at least tell you if something is very odd). |
Re: tire pressure and oversteer issues
Take this for what it's worth, but the Porsche Owners Manual for my '84 tells me 29 front and 36 rear. That's a 7 pound difference recommended by the masters of Porsche design themselves. It sounds like you might have too much pressure and, more importantly, too little difference between the front and the back. |
Thanks Scott. I'll try these. BTW are these meant to be for 16'' ??

More negative camber should not make your car oversteer. The only reason to add more neg however is if the tires are not working correctly (ie not getting to the proper temp across the whole tyre. By memory toe in and toe out will change the stability of teh car in a straight line. Now with the tires you are using I would assume that pressures you are quoting are hot. I think you would need to beg buy borrow or steal a pyrometer (tire temp gauge) and check to see the difference between the innner middle and out edges of your tire after a few laps say three or four with no cool down. Take notes and only change one end of the car at a time also keep note o fteh track temp as this will give you a yardstick for future track time. Michael T |
