Talking Porsche makes a bad day into a good day

Received some disappointing news today at work - nothing terrible but just enough to take the wind out of my sails for the day. After sitting through one and a half meetings I decided I needed a break. Disconnect early from the second conference call and take the cover off the car. Get the tunes cranked up a bit, the engine warmed up and the top down. Now I'm not feeling quite so bad.

There's a new stretch of road not too far away with a speed limit of 45 mph. Some long straights where the Turbo can wind up and some interesting twisties just to make it fun. And almost no noon day traffic Bad day is getting better already. Did I say 45 mph? That's the theoretical limit of course.

On the way back to work I pick up a follower - ugly Japanese car of some kind. One of those guys who thinks their car can keep up to an older Porsche. As I take the sharp 90 degree right hander I notice he is rolling sharply to the side like an old boat. Time for a new suspension buddy. Bad day is suddenly getting pretty good.

Get back to the office for my next conference call and by now I'm feeling darn right great. Everyone is wondering "why is he so happy?".

Answer: Porsche makes a bad day into a good day.

I know your feeling. Every day I drive the Porsche, the smile on my face just seems to get bigger and bigger. Other people may think I am cocky but I am having a damn good time and happy in my own little world with my Porsche.

Me too

Sometimes just a fast corner, or opening it up even for a little stretch sure makes me smile - everytime!

Today it's warm, clear and sunny, perfect for a Targa top to be off, listening to the sounds of the flat 6 symphony...my radio died months ago, I have a new one sitting on the work bench. Somehow, I just have had other priorities. Like suspension work, AX and fun runs

I can relate BlkBird. When I'm having an over-stessed day I do the same. A nice spirited lunchtime run will fix a lousy day every time.

I had a front wheel drive rice burner (dont know the model) try to keep up with me on a 270 degree freeway on-ramp. There is some construction going on in the area so the re-routed lanes make for a somewhat decreasing radius turn for the ramp. Front wheel drives dont like decreasing radius. Sorry that your new car doesn't handle as well as my '78sc.

Couple weeks ago a brand new Boxster kept trying to see if my old 911 still had it in her. It was an open stretch of hwy. I declined the invitation for a while and finally gave in. Did the little 60 to ~100 stomp, proved the point and got off of it right away so as not to cause any trouble.
Hey, I thought the new Boxsters were faster than that. The old girl can still do it.

(I think the Boxster has a higher top speed but I'm not crazy enough to find out on a public hwy.)

After last Sunday's outing, my wife said, "Glad to see a smile on your face again." I didn't know it showed that much. I guess I have been a little grumpy lately. What's new?
