Endurance run to Mid USA meet?

A few of us have been thinking about meeting up mid USA...some where around the I90 and I29 Junction near Sioux Falls, Nebraska. Something like the Sturgis run.

Anyone in the local area...Sioux Falls- Omaha - Topeka area want to get involved finding small town locally with hotel/hotels with and a BIG parking lot?

We were thinking some time after Labor day in mid Sept.

Anyone else interested in joining us for the weekend?

if we're driving over there from the west coast, we must stop by bonneville salt flats on the way there (or on the way back)!

If we lived in San Francisco that would be a great idea Peter

Bit out of the way from Seattle to Nebraska....but the adventure is the journey right?

Just so you know: the German Auto Fest in Ventura, CA, is September 11-ish. Lots of California guys will have a harder time getting out of the state that weekend.

Justa thought, kick it back to early October. A Porsche gathering in october might have a bit of synergy? Any German chow in Sioux Falls?

German Auto fest and the PCA are well attended. Don't want to book their weekends/weeks for sure.

Keep the idea coming....this would be a photo/October/beer fest galore and a true east meets west event...with the Texan's thrown in.

Dane,

I could help out with this one. I'm in Sioux Falls. There is a Germanfest on September 17th with a drive'n park downtown. Lots of beer, brats and polka music, oom, pa pa. Plenty of hotels with large parking lots. We host Hot Summer nights which is the kick off for Corvettes on there way to Black Hills Classic plus and we host Hot Harley Nights which about 8,000 bikes show up for. http://www.siouxfallscvb.com/festivals.cfm There is a Run for the Hills Rally part Trois which is a multi-region get together in the Black Hills the weekend of August 26-28.http://dak.pca.org/calendar.htm

Michael that is great. Any free weekends in that general time frame we could book all to ourselves? "Ourselves" being the Porsche owners of the USA

Although German Fest would be a fun time to be in town if we could find a hotel that would be willing to host us.

Stop off and get some climbing in at Devils' Tower and see the Black Hills and Rushmore as well. I'm going.

Also: October 29-30 is when we're looking into a 'North-meets-South' track day/fun run/barbecue at Sears Point.

Dane - this is a great idea! It would also give us Chicago / St. Louis guys a chance to meet all of you. Would also give me an incentive to get my Ruf stuff installed!

1500 miles give or take a few from LA, Miami, NY or Seattle. Everyone else is closer. That means one loooong day on the road each way for the speed caravans.

Dane,
This is a great idea. A Porsche version of the Sturgis/Harley thing. October sounds good.

This sounds great. I've been meaning to take a Devil's Tower/Rushmore trip anyway.

Hope you guys are serious! 'Cause...here we go!

NA Porsche migration goes into full swing this fall.

We'll have 100 rooms booked at discounted rates for the weekend (Friday and Saturday) of their Germanfest on September 17th. (we can get more rooms if needed in the same location.

There will be lighted, secured and patrolled group parking the entire weekend.

Hotel info and pricing (major discounts) coming soon. Free convention space for meetings/dinner/breakfasts or industry hospitality rooms. Any one interested in buying into a hospitality room for us yokels send me PM and I'll get you the contact info.

The good roads seem to be 350 miles away so plan on looking, taking pictures but not much driving unless some 1/4 mile turbo shows up from Florida

Well here is your chance to be in on the first NA gathering of Porsche where everyone is invited.

Mark Wilson and I may be the only ones that show up but we will be there
