what is paint code 406-9-3...??

door jam provides this number, but my car is gold...and i would SWEAR it has always been gold...but paintscratch calls it 'gazella metallic', which is blue! wtf??

i do recall in the owner's manual where in the back, written in pen, it says 'gazelle metallic' i believe. can anybody tell me differently that it really is a GOLD color??

406 is listed as 'Comet Shower' in my service manual ...

The name of the color is comet diamant or gazelle metallic in english. The '9' in your code refers to the place of paint application which is the Porsche Factory and '3' is for Herberts paint. The * after the code on the chart refers to the availability for this color on Fuchs.

While searching for some old paint threads ... I discovered this one that answers the question about what color the gold decal and Fuchs were on the factory demo RS 3.0 car '2511' tested by Paul Frere ... Comet Shower, or Gazelle Metallic!

Any Cheetah would be genetically coded to instantly recognize it and give chase to, of course, as a most delicious 'Tommie' or Thompson's Gazelle!!!

Thanks for digging up this old thread becasue I made a mistake originally. The code #s are:
1 is for Lesonal
2 is for Glasurit
3 is for Herberts

I agree the gold on the 3.0 RSR must have been 406.
