New C2 retractable decklid on my '84

I got the C2 decklid from widebody911 and the fancy solid grill part on eBay.

And how does it get air you ask?

Beautiful.....that is where I am taking my targa....'84 that I am updating to the c2 bumpers & engine lid..The lid should arrive next week....I am even going to attempt the targa to cab conversion.....its even the same slate blue (or is yours green, hard to tell)

Nice to see my "after" photo before I start my project......

Have you seen the wiring diagram on this forum using the Autoloc one touch & window switch?

I am trying to figure a way to do it with a speed variable from either the speedometer or the cruise control....

Very nice looking....Thanks for posting
Chris

I'm not sure your engine can get enough air that way--esp at idle; for both combustion and cooling. You don't want to use hot air for combustion anyway because it's not as dense. Seems like the hot air would just circulate in the engine bay. Even the scoop won't allow a lot of airflow (mass) into the engine area.

Looks cool though.

Me thinks it will get really hot in the engine compartment.....until the rain gets in to cool things off...... I'm pretty sure Porsche put the grills on the decklids for a good reason....don't meant to burst your bubble..

What about the whole boundry layer of air going over the car. Just wondering if you get any ram effect at all. At speed you might not be getting enough. hmmmmmm?

The spec given for the opening when they designed the car (with only a 2-liter motor) was that it needed to have a minimum area of 7 square decimeters (about .75 square feet), and "a good air flow path to the cooling fan."

Yeah, about that bubble...

It seems to me that grill is like someone shoving a sock in your mouth while you're trying to catch your breath. Where's the 'air' coming from in the phrase 'air-cooled'?

Yep... the whole car is in need of a respray. I think every body panel has its own shade of slate blue.

Nope... it's wired to manually go up and down with a window switch. I'm trying to see if I can have it automatically go up when I turn on the engine and down when I turn off the engine.
