Now tell us about mods, upgrades, purchases that didn't pan out.

I don't want this thread to be too negative. Try to praise the product or mod, especially if you bought the parts from our host. But do explain why it didn't work out for you. I'll start:

1. Corbeau Legacy racing seats - I bought the larger wider size for my wide can. The seats really hold me in and are lightweight. Great support everywhere, a little too much support though. The shoulder area is too tight, making me roll my shoulders in a little hunchback. Gives me a backache after long drives. I should have considered factory sport seats.

2. Front mask - great for preventing rock chips but 911s look best naked.

I was disappointed in my Corbeau seats.

Is it the fit or the wrinkling?

MagBra - kept flying off on the freeway, concluded it was operator error but the operator was likely to continue erring, so I'm living with the stone nicks.

Oh, one of my least favorite is a replica 930s center console. It was one of the first produced and is quite well made. However, it's just too boxy and large. I wish there were a good alternative.

DAS bolt in roll bar.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the bar, far from it actually. It was a work of art, easy to install and well designed, but a PITA in a daily driver. You lose the option of putting anything larger than a bag of groceries in the back seat. With the correct padding, it also partially blocks the rearview mirror.

The last straw came when I got the car teched for a NASA HPDE and failed because of how the seat back lined up with the roll bar. They were concerned that if I backed into something, the headrest could fail and the seat back could collapse and submarine under the crossbar and break my neck (I do see their point). I removed the bar so I could go to the HPDE, and sold the bar.

*****, you just had to do this to me....you guys promise not to laugh and ridicule too hard??

1) Cool Collar - didn't really see any improvement (hi, my name is Doug, and I own a cool collar.....)
2) Front marker light oil cooler scoop - didn't really see any improvement.

Good news: the stuff fits and installs well.

I really thought the CC would work, laws of physics and all. I have the trombone with just the slightest dent in one of the lines. Maybe the thermo is bad, but the Trombone gets warm to the touch. When I replaced the plug wires, I was lazy and didn't reinstall the rubber wire routing thingys that plug into the fan shroud. Could these little holes throw off the fan/shroud efficiency enough to raise oil temp? On hot days last summer (85+), after 80mph on freeway for an hour the oil temp gauge approaches the bottom of the red mark.

So I guess I'm saying it could be something else causing the problem.

Disappointed that 1 out of my 5 purchases from fellow Pelican's turned out bad..... (product not as described and is now useless)

Why can't everyone just be honest and forthcoming and then the world would be a better place.....

***** I just fell off of my soap box, now where is that button for the orderly?

On the other hand I have yet to have a bad experience dealing with a Pelicanite on a purchase. But I have only purchased from members who have had at least 50 or so posts.

Bought one of those glove box organizers. Fit well, but pulled it out after a week needing more room.

A 944S. Nice car I to be sure but I was foolish to think it would be better for me than a 911.

$10 Bra from a Pelicanite; nothing wrong with it, just prefer the bra-less look.

Low temp oil cooler fan bypass valve/switch. PITA to install and remove and find that a simple jump switch is much better.
