wastegate dump pipe

I just installed a GLH muffler on my 930. I am considering going with a dump pipe from my wastegate or one of the small mufflers. Does anyone have any experience with either (sound, power etc.) and what is a good source for the muffler option.

I could not find much on this with the search feature.

Thanks in advance,

Jim.

I have the same question, kinda.
My wastegate dumps straight to atmosphere and I'm afraid it's going to get me in trouble one of these days. I really don't need to be attracting extra attention when on full boost, if you know what I mean. I never realized how loud it was until I hit full boost going under a bridge. Wow.

If you get a line on a small muffler that doesn't restrict much, please let me know. Tanks.

I'm using a straight dump pipe and didin't find it any noisier than the factory setup which uses a small muffler.

There's a faint nice whoosh sound when the WG opens.

My car has a Borla muffler which I find quite loud & babbles a lot, so the effect of chancing WG in my case is actually quite minimal. Not sure what would be like with a stock muffler. So YMMV.

mine aims right out the back... yea its loud ... but... it gives that "SHOCK and OOO!" effect when it opens...

just stay off the boost when the FUZZ is within range..
can they make you go on boost to test the DB's for a ticket? do they even need to test DB's?

I love the sound!
Quiet with a stock muffler until you want it loud. Really gets the attension of the ricer soon to dissapear in your rearview.

ive made some small mufflers for this before you get some 1.75 piping<46mm tial / 930 gate> drill holes in it than get some 2.25 piping than cut out 2, 2.25 round flate plate than drill a 1.75 hole in both the flate plate get some fiberglass muffler matting than slide the 2.25 over the 1.75 where the holes you drilled are pack with the glass than weld the 2 end caps on and you now have a small muffler.

sounds like allot of work but its not that much

thats just what i do.

Mine sounded like an open header v-8 race car when on boost.
Awesome...

Well... I drove around with it just dumping out yesterday. While it is a cool sound. I think it will lose it's appeal after a month or so.
Any sources for a small stainless muffler?
Rarly- nice collection!

Have you tried the stock Euro wastegate muffler like the one I have pictured 3rd from the bottom?
They can be found at a decent price on the used market.

I built this muffler and pipe. It quiets the dump nicely.
