Any Secrets to Replacing a Headlight Switch?
I am going to replace my headlight switch in my 1973.5T and I noted the knob screws off, but I would have to configure some type of tool to remove that two holed retention piece.
The old switch looks like it will drop with wires attached for a re-fit with the new unit, although I have to lower my knee level A/C vent unit for better access. Any recommendations, procedure(s) or cautions anyone can pass on who have done the same light switch R&R? Thanks Bob 1973.5T |

small needle nose pliers work for the retainer. otherwise, just swap one wire at a time. too bad about the a/c vent box blocking the view.

Thanks John.
I was thinking of fabricating something out of fork for the retainer piece, but I will try first with the needle nose. The knee level AC vent unit has on many occasions been a pain in the butt for accessing stuff under the dash. Regards Bob |

The real trick, as John said, is to replace the wires one at a time. There are a bunch of 'em on that switch, and it's really easy to get them mixed up. Not a difficult job, but one that takes patience. Good luck!

Don't feel bad, if I recall, mine was kinda stuck to the dash vinyl and took a little wack to get it started.....
