Actually, the wt. savings come from replacing a 30 lb body part with an 8 lb. one...
This has all been pretty carefully analyzed, starting with Jim Calzia's epic "study." I have a whole selection of magazine articles and quite a bit of data posted at Thom's web site. Doing things to save a ounce here and there - even if done 20 times or more - just doesn't get you very far. If you are trying to meet a class spec., then fine. But major reductions don't happen from that. I've thought of starting a thread on "things that don't count re saving wt." The things you listed and many more that "everybody" does are just not going to do it. Now think - how many ounces are in 1/4 ton? Or even 1/8 ton...
